$15 for a piece of plastic with- Thermometer that doesn't work out of the box- Flashlight that you have to squeeze a tiny button to work- Mirror thats so small, it has no use in "survival"- Magnifying glass you need to squint to see anything- Compass that jams up in its own liquid.- Can't really say anything bad about the whistle since its. just a whistle.- Storage compartment can hold maybe 10 matches. you can buy waterproof matches in a watertight case for 5 bucks, no need for this.I see what they were trying to make here , and it was a good idea on paper, but the materials used and the execution is just awful. you're better off getting a thermometer watch from a different company, and a small led light on its own.
Ok.the whistle, compass and flashlight works. Mirror and magnifiers are so small that they are virtually worthless & the Thermometer never has worked at all. Sorry, I expected something a little better and maybe bigger too.RF
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R27BPT1PQFH2CI Highgear Adventureplus. A small device with a compass, digital thermometer, mirror, magnifying lens, safety whistle, storage drawer, and LED flashlight in one small and stylish device. I have owned it for about a year and recommend it except for the NON replaceable thermometer battery.
I bought mine on clearance. Yes the thermometer quit working but I did like Robbie & pryed off the gray bezzle & replaced the battery. The battery is a A10 or 389/390. Make sure you clean all the contacts with a clean eraser head before re-assembly.Also, my thermometer is reasonably accurate unlike some other comments.
It comes with a neck strap and it is just fun to have around. I like the thermometer.it actually comes in handy out and about as well around the house too. A good friend of mine bought this gadget for me and I think it is a fun little thing to have. I would put it in the category of "fun" gear rather than "hard core." For $15 you can't expect too much really, can you. The flashlight is not that strong, but good enough for small tasks. I like taking it hiking and on trips. If you are seriously looking for something to save your life lost in the woods, it will probably not be this gadget, but I like it nonetheless. I am giving my mom a hiking book and this - it is a good little inexpensive trinket to complete a gift.
